Project Assistant Registrar (Collections Review)

The aviation collection of National Museums Scotland is the broadest collection in the UK, covering all aspects of human flight. The collection includes civil, military, and recreational flight as well as the main forms of propulsion: unpowered (gliders, hang-gliders), human powered, piston-engine, turbojet, turbofan and rocket. This collection is diverse ranging from aircraft to textiles.

As Project Assistant Registrar (Collections Review), you will play a key role in a project designed to review and improve the care of the aviation collections. Based at the National Museum of Flight, you will line manage one fixed term Project Assistant (Collections Review) and work with curators and collection services staff to keep project plans to schedule, ensuring the assessment, documentation and, where appropriate, disposal of collections in carried out in a time efficient way in line with National Museum Scotland’s procedures.

You will have proven experience of delivering collection projects with strong knowledge and skills in collection documentation, collection review and line management gained in a museum/gallery environment.

The successful candidates are expected to take up post in October or November 2019. This is a fixed-term post for 12 months.
