Youth Engagement & Volunteering Coordinator
The Horniman Museum and Gardens in south east London has been open since Victorian times, when the tea trader and philanthropist, Frederick John Horniman first opened his house and extraordinary collection of objects to the local community. Since then, our collection has grown significantly and includes internationally important collections of anthropology and musical instruments, as well as an acclaimed aquarium and natural history gallery – all surrounded by 16 acres of beautiful Gardens offering breathtaking views across London.
The Volunteering Programme supports over 300 individuals each year in varied roles across all areas of the museum’s work. We are looking for a Youth Engagement & Volunteering Coordinator who will advocate for active youth participation at the Horniman and ensure that the contribution of young people is integrated into major museum projects, exhibitions and initiatives. You will be instrumental in coordinating and developing the museum’s youth volunteering and engagement opportunities, including the Horniman Youth Panel and associated activity.
You’ll be a motivated, creative and flexible individual with proven experience of engaging and working with young people. You will have a balance of skills in project management, programme coordination and delivery, administration, and the ability to work appropriately and sensitively with a diverse range of young people. You will be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable advocate for youth engagement and volunteering, committed to facilitating genuine youth-led activity.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check for regulated activity.
