Promoting Philanthropy

NMDC believes policy changes are necessary to encourage donations of objects to UK collections. The cost of acquisitions is growing rapidly while the resources available for growing collections are falling behind those of our international competitors. Government funding for acquisitions has greatly diminished at a time when the price of pre-eminent cultural objects has massively increased. Tax regime reforms could go a long way to enabling museums and galleries to raise funds, build their collections and acquire important items.
